A True Gem.
Ive abandoned my recent re-foray into [edited: "a much newer, expansive RPG) for this game. The immerson and detail far outweigh the pretty graphics of the other game. I still dabble into that other game for things like the thrill of having to accurately aim a bow and getting a long distance shot, but this Baldurs Gate doesnt need it.
It has arguably better strategy, a more compelling story-line, vastly more intersting combat (especially with your companions!), and somehow has this unnamable, over-arching allure. You might have to be a bit of an old-school roleplayer, and you have to get past the "outdated" graphics (especially the tight zoom - everything gets pixel-blurry! - but at least theres now a great zoom function!)
There are a few bugs that need to be worked out, but this isnt the place to suggest bug fixes and so forth. And really, I cant remember any specific bugs off the top of my head - and that says *a lot*. I mean, think of that "other game" - it was full of bugs that I know wed all recall in an instant.
This is a SURE PURCHASE if you know what youre getting into, and I recommend it to every gamer. A true gem.
