Great game. Highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys role playing games. At times it feels like a choose your own adventure. Reminds me of Diablo 2 but with more tactical combat + more traditional D&D rules. The battles can be very challenging at times making it feel all the more satisfying when you see the nasties hit dirt. Any other mac users that find themselves limited for game choices, this one works very well. (No need to worry about fan noise here.) Haven’t beat it yet but I’m already thinking of purchasing the sequel. I wonder if the mac app version will allow me to transfer my characters. Anybody have any info there?

Whether you have played it in the past, or are new to Baldur’s Gate, this was the most hyped game of 1998. It speaks volume that it has been re-released in HD and it doesn’t disappoint. The bugs are fixed and there are more epic adventures ahead. A must download for everyone. Hopefully the rest of the series gets released here too by Overhaul Games.

The Launcher comes up, but crashes immediately after selecting the option to launch the game. 100% unplayable.

Although the game brings back many fond memories from playing the original, I can’t recommend the game due to a couple of issues. The first is just annoying, that the pop-up text boxes for items and areas in the map have microscopic font that is completely unreadable. I could live with this. However, the game frequently crashes when travelling from area to area. Once I got to the Baldur’s gate bridge, I could no longer travel to any area at all, making any further progress in the game impossible. Given that the last update to this game was 2 years ago, it seems unlikely that these bugs will ever be fixed.

All the problem that you add in the PC version are still there. Le worst is path finding.

Re-improvement of one of the best game ever! Lots of enhancements, totally worth buying.

I love this game! I loved it when if first came out and its even better now, more than a decade later, with some new additions and improvements (which are seemless and faithful to the original). Although Im only about half way through, there have been no glitches or problems. This game is a real RPG classic and I sincerely hope that these guys pick up more old Bioware RPGs, like BG 2 and the icewind dale franchise, and add their touch to it. You can tell that this re-release was put together by people who loved the original. Baldurs gate is made timeless and Minsc and Boo live to fight another day.

This game has literally come back right on time... I was literaally thinking about playing this game again on my old PC... I was losing faith in the whole RPG Genre... Hopefully this will remind game developers of what a real game is... Well done... Well done

I am SO happy to find this on the app store - this is a phenomenal game which I highly enjoyed in my childhood and will once again (just in time for finals!). A surprislingly little number of casual gamers know about this game, so Im really happy more people will have the opportunity to play it. Of course it is dated, but the complex gameplay, puzzle solving, deep story, sense of humour and engaging characters have endured.

If anyone is having trouble coping scrolls, reading books, etc. and you are using a mac, try using the old two finger click…it took me weeks to figure out and there was NOTHING out there that I could find to help me out…just did and now I can actually play the game :)

It was just a flook that I saw Baldurs Gate for sale on the App Store. I dont spend much time on here and definitely dont play many games on my Mac, but when I saw Baldurs Gate I didnt even hesitate to buy it. Havent played it in ten years or so and I think I like it better than before. The enhanced edition is absolutely awesome. New characters are great, graphics are good and the game runs real smooth. Love the second edition AD&D rules. Wish all RPGs used them. Ive played it through twice now and will probably do it a third. Cant wait for BG2EE to be released. It will no doubt be even bigger and better. Buy this Epic game and enjoy!

Cannot believe this game is on here!! I was obsessed with this game 10 years ago, staying in all weekend playing it! This is amazing! Such an amazing game! Hopefully Baldurs Gate II and the Throne of Bhaal will come out too!!!

At $5 it is a steal. Also instant saving and loading is a huge improvement over the original version.

Overhaul Games did a great job in bringing this RPG claasic to Mac. It runs flawlessly on my Macbook Air. Visual options such as the ability to zoom in screen or increase the font size are very nice and makes it a lot more fun playing this on an 11” screen. These guys should work on Fallout 1 and 2 as well. If you enjoy RPG genre you really should buy this. 5 stars.

This is the very best version of the game to date! I don’t know, however, why there are old screenshots in here. The new menus look phenomenal. If you are a fan of the series and haven’t bought it yet, this is the time :)

The only game that is better is Baldurs Gate 2.

If you havent played Baldurs gate, dont call yourself a rpg gamer. I think the only thing missing is ipad save transfer option.

This version of the game is not only as good as I remember but a little bit better too. THe only problems i have are that it constantly says "Update" in the apple store and when i click it, it just re downloads the game and also, when in game some icons will be randomly selected (looking through shop and the sell or buy button will click for no reason selling or buying random items) . Not really a serious issue but still a little anoying. Still gets 5 stars for being awesome though
